violin and vocal classes

హమ్మయ్య, మళ్ళీ చాలా రోజులకి కాలేజ్ లో వయొలిన్ క్లాసెస్ జరగబోతున్నాయి. ఈసారి స్పెషల్ ఏంటి అంటే, we got a music room. huhaha. Till now, we dont have any particular music room. But, only problem is with instructor, he is very irregular to classes ofcourse he is very busy with outside work. Though this time, we decided that, some of the students who learned violin before, can volunteer for conducting violin classes for the new students. Yeah, this is good idea. Again, problem here is, these students were also taught by the same instructor and they learned only till Geethams, Carnatic style of violin. Anyhow, they will teach what they learned before.
So, with a new music room, college also providing 10 violins for students to learn. If anybody wants to bring his own violin, he can buy and come. These college violins are only for doing practice, i.e also in specified class times. And we are the leaving batch of our college, we have atmost 1 month time. So, we can learn, practice more things if we regularly attend classes.
Myself, is a volunteer for these classes. I started learning in May 2007. Hardly I learned violin within a short span of time, 4-6 months time. Later, time didn't permit me, beacuse all the course work, exams as there in every college.
So classes are going to start from tomorrow onwards. i.e Monday, 20th Apr,2009 again. [contd...]

Proxy settings for accessing internet for installing packages in Ubuntu and Fedora

Recently, college network administrators asked us to use student's email for accessing internet, with proxy server. Many of the students faced a lot problems since many softwares don't ask for username/password for connecting to internet.
Some of the students sent a mail to others that how to set username/password to connect to internet in Fedora Core linux and Ubuntu Linux. Some solutions for these.
1) Fedora core linux -->
follow these instructions.

-->open .bashrc file using Terminal/gedit or any text editor.
--> write these lines at the end of file.
--> export HTTP_PROXY=username:password@proxy-servers-ip-address:port
--> export FTP_PROXY=username:password@proxy-servers-ip-address:port
That's it. Save the file. Now you can connect to internet using your email address and your password.

2) For Ubuntu : Its just simple.
Open Main Menu->System->Administration->Synaptic Package Manager->Preferences->Network Settings->Authentication.
Now set the username and password. Now you can connect to internet.

If you are not using Synaptic, then manually create file called apt.conf in /etc/apt/apt.conf. Now add these two lines to that file.
--> Acquire::http::Proxy "http://username:password@proxy:port";
--> Acquire::ftp::Proxy "ftp://username:password@proxy:port";
Now run this command -- > sudo apt-get update . Now things will go easy. The above method for fedora will also work for Ubuntu also.
